This might just be the most important and valuable technical post I have made to you guys.
Typically, the correct technical action is to address what the client has his/her attention on and wants handled . . . the “trouble” is that, typically, clients have their attention stuck on the NEGATIVES of what is bothering them, the pains and upsets and failures to handle life and living.
Indeed, when I reconnected with Alan in 1994, and we got to discussing “The Tech” he actually mentioned that, apart from the disaster that Scn became, the big gain we got from it was that it “revealed to us the wrong way to address case!”
Scientology, basically and essentially, approaches case from the perspective of pursuing the NEGATIVES of what is “wrong” that has to be “fixed”! And, to be noted is the point that Scn organizational management is also very much the activity of finding out what is wrong that then has to be blasted out of existence.
In retrospect, I would say this approach to things would have suited the Founder of Scn as it caused so many folks to become dependent and subservient to his domination as they stived to be free from “what ailed them.”
And noted in the interview I did with Janis Gilham Grady and Mark Fisher (here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XA9fAsjY7cg . . . Our Scientology Stories - Peeling the Onion), the insanity of Scn Organizations is that they have chronically targeted and destroyed the positive producers . . . all staff are reduced to operating as being effect of the oppressive environment. Staff are operating mainly from a position of fear of the consequences of not measuring up to expectations of the hierarchy above them and/or doing things the way they are expected to.
I am somewhat lucky. I got into Scn based on the pursuit of the positive of wanting to improve my athletic performance. Indeed, my first contact with it was while doing research into athletic performance and possible methods for its improvement.
Hence everything I did relative to Scn was in pursuit of the positives of better performance, more knowledge, bigger games, etcetera.
Hence I kept expanding in terms of knowledge, awareness and powers of performance.
Note how this principle of pursuing and processing the POSITIVE was applied in this advice I gave Mario here.

Yes, addressing and empowering the positives of self and the game is where the expansion of the goodies of life and living are to be had.
We know where Hubbard's constant focus on the negatives of his "BTs" landed him . . . reports from those who were with him at his end revealed that he ended up fighting and cursing his "BTs" as they got the better of him.
Compare that to what we have as a result of honoring our spiritual connections and engaging with them in the co-empowering exercise restoring a positive and co-empowering alignment between us.
As noted by me elsewhere, I discovered the earlier universes in 1977 while attempting to handle "BTs" with Hubbard's tech . . . the result being I became aware of the truth of our spiritual connections in the broader and larger realms of our spiritual existence. And that made huge difference in the way the spiritual connections were located, honored and handled.

It's a mystery to me how Hubbard was so myopic to call the BTs/Body-Thetans.
The one guy who took care of Hubbard in his last days even told the story that Hubbard wanted him to built an e-meter for him that would electro-shock the BTs.(Uuuhhmmm? I don't know about that :D ). If I remember right the man's name was Frank Sarge Gerbode who later repackaged Dianetics as TIR.
BTW Roger, the stories you told in the youtube video you linked above... What a mess and abberation the structure of Scientology is and was. And so long ago. I really thought for a long time (while still in) that it is due to Hubbards absence, but no, it was set up incorrectly and supid people routinely bypassed correct sequences and often the most productive, winning contributors.
Back in the day I loved to "dissiminate" Scientology to new people and in the local mission I am to this day the FSM who brought the most new people in and on service.
It was nothing of the scale of your Lectures with dozens and dozens of people a week, but it was a good game to confront people with new ideas and intorduce them to something that would help them, or at least so I thought.
All of them are gone now. Staff and public. The last ones left with me in 2012.
I met a friend last week who is still somewhat "on lines" and he told me that Miscavige recently published new "corrected" green on white volumes. The Org Board had false data in it, sneaked in by SPs. :D
Because they killed their reputation and dissemination outwards doesn't work in the internet age Miscavice has to invent stuff to "expand" inwards to long time Scientologists.
I wonder how anyone can stick around for so long and not see the schtick. Miscavige comes up with "corrected" tech to handle THE "why" for almost 40 years.
But also their game is futile. Scientologists believe that tech can't go IN when ethics is OUT. But what when the tech was incorrect to begin with? And all doors to research and find "a better bridge" where closed, despite Hubbard's invitation to do so in Book One.
They're trapped in a losing paradigm.
