The basic reason for this is that, we humans, individually, are hung up differently in respect to our spiritual occlusions. That is, individually, there are differences as to the why and what of our spiritual unawareness and occlusions. Though there is an underlying commonality behind our areas of occlusion cum unawareness.
Basically, folks are hung up in and stuck with, and by, what they do not want to experience and the method/response they implemented to solve that situation. That is, unfortunately, the Human Condition!
Two examples are: a) going spiritually absent from (departure from) that which can’t be/must not be experienced, and b) using a blanketing, masking or occlusion device constructed of spiritual Life-Force to knock out the unwanted (must not be experienced) thing, event or experience.
A “spiritual awakening” per force, occasions a degree of restoration of awareness and/or of presence of you as the true Spiritual Being that we each are.
Hence the “physical symptoms that turn on”. . . the “physical symptom” has been carried forward through time since the moment of first encounter and being dealt with by the use of a “wrong answer, unworkable solution.”
The current human situation is that many folks simply have not actually experienced the full truth of their spiritual existence, but operate on the basis of a belief that they are a spiritual presence.
This is a subject that has been thoroughly researched for 75+ years, since I was as Australian swimming champion. The reason for and basis of the research was to establish and learn what the spiritual abilities, powers and capacities are that can be developed and used to improve performance. The findings established that we have colossal capacities and powers.

Yes, very good.
Indeed, there is no other spiritual teaching that talks about the crash & burn phenomena that many people run into.
They hit a high by whatever means, process or drug and then are left with no tools to handle what was encountered. 😝
The basic processes like Basic Chronic Mood, Mass Handling, Shock Handling etc. all are great companions on the spiritual awakening journey.
