ON THE SUBJECT OF MASTERY

ON THE SUBJECT OF MASTERY

I am writing this missive because I was caused to wonder this morning how many of you have experienced or otherwise would recognize the feeling of being at mastery on any subject or state of existence.

In truth, I have found it to be a vital subject.

I have written on it before, describing the first time I really discovered it and knew what the hell I had hit (it was while doing the Dianetics training drill that I had drilled to the point that I totally, absolutely knew every possible nuance of the process and could handle anything it threw at me . . . indeed, it was an ascension out of the uncertainty of whether I really knew it or not into the absolute certainty I had it totally cold).  In that write up I also related that I had also attained earlier states of mastery in my chosen sports that I had at the time no clue what it was.

In my earlier write-up I also pointed out that Alan had made the comment that once you have experienced mastery in any one subject, you can then more easily recognize and practice it later in other areas/subjects when you attain it.

I point this out because the subject of mastery is, in actuality, an omitted topic/subject in the realm of other human empowerment technologies . . . yes, they do talk of the mastery of others in the realm of art or musical performance . . . but does anyone deal with it in the terms of how do you recognize it when you attain it in any of your endeavors?  That is, what does it feel like?  What are the sensations and characteristics of it?  How do you recognize it?

Nope!

Hence this ditty today.

As you'll have read in my recent posts, I am constantly going through state of case change . . . as I expand, I move up into new stuff that has to be positively handled.  Hence, not only is "all of life a process" for me, I am always processing it.

I am constantly observing and looking to be aware of what operating condition am I in: optimum? Mastery, lees than that?  Impeded, troubled or distracted?

Apart from practicing this on a constant basis, it is the very first assessment I do each morning as part of my regular, formal session set up.  That way I can know what is to be handled or not.

During the break I just took, I though of the bright idea of not telling you how I personally recognize the feeling of being in or at mastery, but instead decided to ask you such that it functions as a process question for you😊

So, how would or do you recognize mastery for yourself in your endeavors or areas of activity?

For me,

high mood; work without introversion into "how to", the tools and the environment; no "attention disorder" because I know how to operate in the area and my attention is on the task; here, now, can easily attend to what has to be done and leave it alone when finished; gree-zone flow state;

In our current world things develop very fast. I constantly have to learn new software, expand my knowledge and "how to" do certain things. So it sometimes seems that I am set back from the mastery, but in actuality it is another expansion taking place and I might run into incompetence, contraction, weakness, etc. (all levels of existence below mastery). When this is recognized early it can be approached before an overrun takes place and the expansion can be designated correctly. This opens the door to correct handling.

Best regards,
Christian

In martial arts the path to mastery is defined as a three-stage process of shu-ha-ri (from martial arts it has been borrowed by other practices, e.g. I learned about it from a software programming book):

  • shu the following stage where we repeat/copy the steps as given by the instructor. We remain faithful to these steps with no deviation and often without understanding why the procedures exist and what exact function they serve.
  • hathe innovation phase where we start to understand the system, and where we break away from the "standard technology" and make adjustments depending on the context.
  • ri — we depart from the original forms, open the door to creative techniques, and arrive at a place where we act in accordance with what our heart/mind desires, unhindered while not overstepping laws. This is the stage of mastery where one is fully connected with here and now and where you can instantly design an optimum action that works best in a given context.
According to Wikipedia: Shuhari roughly translates to "to keep, to fall, to break away".
  • shu "protect", "obey"—traditional wisdom—learning fundamentals, techniques, heuristics, proverbs
  • ha "detach", "digress"—breaking with tradition—detachment from the illusions of self
  • ri  "leave", "separate"—transcendence—there are no techniques or proverbs, all moves are natural, becoming one with spirit alone without clinging to forms; transcending the physical

I collided with the attached scan of a page in Alan's masterwork, The Zones of Life.

It's a monster two large volumes of materials articulating all of the nuances of how we operate across all of the zones in pretty much every aspect of our operations and existence.

When purchased at the ranch some many moons ago, it cost mega amounts of dollars like, about $400.

It turned out, I was the only person to have actually bought the book . . . this up till the last time I visited.

Indeed, Alan, as he was wont to do did a rant (captured on video) about "this very important book not being bought by 'any of you,' or at leas not enough of you."  He corrected himself as we caught each others' eye.

But it IS a book of great value because it is a revelation of all of the nuances of our operations across the Zones on ALL aspects of our life, living and actions therein.

In that vein I attach the page on "ACTION" . . .

Note the characteristics and types of action across the top of the Zones at Mastery.

PS: Since I am in a celebratory mood, and having collided with "The Roogle" in among the scans in this folder, I'll also post it in celebration of the brilliant coaching and processing I delivered to a very important person this morning , , , it was fun.

So . . .  what is a "Roogle"??  . . .  it is a mythical beast that is a cross between a Roo (kangaroo, Aussies like to abbreviate things and we routinely refer to kangaroos as "Roos.") and the American Eagle.

It celebrates the partnership between an American wine shipper/distributor and an Aussie winemaker!!  And it is marvelous wine.  Actually none better . . . and I have had the good fortune to have enjoyed the other versions of "best" and most expensive . . . this stuff is at that level, and unique.

OK, a problem with the key attachment . . . we are limited to1,024 KB size. . . . .I'll have to use another methods.  I'll link it to my dropbox
