We are getting wind of the ineptitude of the official and governmental agency responses to the Maui disaster.

Yes.  They are a mixture of both incompetence and evil . . . some are one, some are the other, and some a mix of both.

Hawaii is prone to frequent gale-force winds and not infrequent cyclone traffic . . . and yet the idiots responsible for infrastructure allowed the stringing of electrical power lines, unprotected, among and even within the overhang of dense tropical vegetation . . . 

All it takes/took is just one fierce wind blown branch to bring down a hot wire to set the blaze going!
