READING AND USING THE METER

Part 2 . . .

Now for some "complexity" . . .

VARIATIONS ON METER ACTION AND NEEDLE REACTIONS.

FALLS
When your meter needle falls to your right is means encysted, standing wave, charged Life-Force is being released! The extent of the move of the needle simply indicates relative amounts of release of such encysted, charged Life-Force. Thus we have: small falls, falls, long falls (SF's, F's, LF's) and Blow-Downs off of the dial (B/D).

RISING NEEDLE OR RESISTENCE VALUE (TA)
When the needle rises to your left this indicates increasing mass or charge building up in the present moment on the case and the client. This can occur for several reasons. It can either be the result of something triggered that can be run on a process or it can be real time in-session client's spiritual Life-Force accumulating and building up that needs to be urgently recognized and handled.

In-session, real time client's spiritual Life-Force build up can occur due to going past having completed something and not recognizing the completion, an Over-Run (O/R), or it can occur when you try and run something that is/was not charged (Cleaning a Clean). The Life-Force builds up and accumulates because it is being mis-directed and being directed to try and handled a wrong what/why/thing. That is the simple explanation. If the TA soars you've actually missed the earlier more gentle rise L . . . if, when your needle moves fully to the left side of the dial it's time to urgently find out what's going on. Ummm, and having the needle return after a B/D is not a rising needle.

This is imperative knowledge to have when you are doing "Right Item Finding." That is, when you are listing for an item. Example: "What Identity or Beingness would oppose (named thing)?" . . . here you are looking for the right item . . . if it is given by the client and thus "on the list" but not yet recognized by either client or processor, the Resistance Value (TA) will begin to RISE as you continue; this because you are now misdirecting Life-Force and it will accumulate as added energy and mass on "the case." This is imperative knowledge, and the reason I will not take clients into the advanced areas of case handling (such as the Codes) without the use of a meter.

There are two forms of rise of the needle or TA that indicate a needed handling of Force, Charge or Mass activated that is not simply the in-session live accumulation of misdirected Life-Force as above. One is a relatively slow rising needle which can indicate the client has triggered an old, extant Mass, Force or Charge on the case that is now in the way that can give huge benefit to the client if handled NOW!

The other, which is relatively rare, is a rise to the left that is of the same velocity and magnitude as the small falls, falls, long falls noted above. This needle manifestation simply means that the process question or whatever the client has directed attention onto is a little too charged to be handled or discharge on first inspection . . . this is the reverse of charge releasing on first contact as occurs with falls . . . here first contact traps further live spiritual Life-Force. Hence the Rise Read. It is a valuable needle reaction to note. The only point to note is that clients, and new clients, can't always handle such areas till more case advance has taken place.

Advanced solo processors should get real interested in Rise Reads for they signal a really hot area of case item from which huge gain can be obtained when handled.

ROCKET READS
There are two forms of Rocket Reads (RR) and they both mean the same thing except they are each the reverse of the other. An RR means hot live spiritual intention. A blast of spiritual Life-Force intending something. From my experience, these have always been intentions to create or bring about a new condition of existence that have hung up in/from the past and when contacted in a session they EXPLODE across the meter dial. Sometimes the explosive take-off seen at the beginning of the reaction fades and slows towards the end. Usually these RRs are dial wide and mostly they will blow off the dial.

The history of the RR is that they were recognized by Hubbard in 1962-3 as the (to use his word) "postulate" (the creative intention/thought) behind the creation of our OWN GOALS and the Reliable Items of the old Goals Problems Masses line plots.

The RR that explodes to the Right as a Fall does, is a positive, experiential "good" item that released charge when contacted.

The REVERSE RR explodes to your left on the meter to explosively RISE, very often blowing right off of the meter . . . this signals something rather un-experiential, something utterly negative and in contravention to the client in his case. What is charging this meter reaction is something utterly anti-what the intention is attacking. I have observed the Reverse RR to always signal a creation or created intention of negation and of reversal of an extant positive like Presence, Love, Harmony, Honor, Knowledge, Understanding or any of the virtues and powers of our basic spirituality. The Reverse RR signals a monster reversal of self on the case that has been emanated by self or another in the past. Thus the explosive Rise, it is repugnant and what is triggered on first contact with it is all the old resistance and opposition solutions to it that again instantly trigger and cause an unwitting, automatic countering of the thing . . . and hence the instant, explosive rise of charged mass on the case that shows as resistance value (TA) rise rather than the falls seen when charge is released.

THE ROCK SLAM (R/S)
This is a much maligned and misused meter read. In actuality, all it really means is that you have contacted CONFLICTED INTENTIONS . . . conflicting intentions in violent opposition to each other. Hence the bashing of the needle back and forth. In Knowledgism, we call it a lightening read. And it does look just like lightening strikes all over the dial of the meter. It's a jagged series of lightening strikes back and forth across the dial

Originally, this meter manifestation was seen when a client encountered what Hubbard called "The Rock" . . . The Rock according to him being a very basic, early solid object on the case of particular shape variable client to client. In actuality, in Knowledgism our advanced cases know it is not exactly as Hubbard opined. This item resides in the Valuable Creations Universe that also happens to be a basis for what later became the physical universe . . . but the kicker is, our Valuable, Honored Creation as originally emanated was violently negated and opposed; hence the conflict that manifests on the meter as the R/S. Though there are earlier sources of R/S on the case than this event in the Your Own and Others' Valuable Creations Universe.

In 1962, we were using this R/S meter read to find "Reliable Items" on the case in a process series called R2-10 and R2-12. These "Items" were ostensibly "Identities" we had become in the playing of the game that got into opposition with each other. In due course, Hubbard screwed up this tech point, much as he did with many other simple truths, to misuse the R/S as a signal for "evil intentions on the case" and also those as having evil intentions "against him personally and Scn generally." It became that none were as reviled as the "Rock Slammer" (any individual who R/Sed).

Honest technology without any hidden agenda will simply recognize the R/S as signaling a hot area of case and charge to clean up for monster, wonderful gains for the client! You see, having conflicted intentions is having the unfortunate circumstance of getting in your own way!! (Do I hear a sigh of relief out there??!! J )

I have observed that an R/S, in many respects, can be the combination reaction to the conflicted intentions as expressed by what could be said to be the "two halves" of the R/S manifestation . . . the RR and the Reverse RR . . . that is, the underlying why and what behind those two reads, when in conflict in locked up spiritual Life-Force as expressed in an item of case (such as an identity, game or collapsed universe) will, in conflicted combination produce the R/S manifestation.

I have also observed (as have others) that, as one processes these areas of case, the Reverse RR can often "degenerate" into an R/S which itself then degenerates into what I have termed a "Conflict Read" which is best described as a "soft R/S." It is bigger than a "Dirty Needle" but less violent than the full blown R/S.

NEEDLE PATTERNS
One will often see "scrappy" needle action. It does not mean a lot other than, internally, the client has attention on automatic bouncing about with old solutions, countering "mind" content with any of all of the usual solutions. These needle action patterns are rather tiny: less than one-quarter inch or 5mm in size, and can be repeated about all over the dial as the needle adjusts position.

However, if you have begun formal session and are in agreement on what case issues or procedures you are going to address and the needle is "Dirty," and asking if the client has his "attention on anything" fails to clean it; well, it could be the client is being secretive and withholding or suppressing something he does not want known (even to himself). This will likely be very much the case if on checking for "anything on your attention" further causes the needle to react with a "Dirty Needle Read" (DN). The Dirty needle is simply showing an internal suppression or countering and hiding of something . . . hence the small conflicted, Dirty Needle Read. It's an agitated, flighty, as though attempting to hide, needle action.

This can signal either the client is in present time in the session maintaining a secret (a Kept) or, such a secret on the case from earlier times has been triggered or, an area of case has been triggered that is just below the client's awareness that is being hidden from view by the client's case solutions such as listed in Gods in Disguise as "Expeller and Denier mechanisms" yet the client has honest difficulty getting at it. Your job then becomes to gently clean this up without any make wrongs or make guilty . . . that bad behavior is the shtick of a cult many of us know.

A STOP is a needle reaction that can occur at any time including as the instant read when a client "gets the process question" at the end of it being delivered by the processor. It is a valid "read" if it is the reaction of a changed needle pattern to what the needle was doing before the question was asked. It simply signifies an instance of jammed, stopped spiritual Life-Force. Just treat it as any other needle reaction manifestation by letting the client inspect the area and clean up the "why" of it. If you see it when in solo session, well, then you have a bonus. That the needle stopped as the reaction gives you a clue to the underlying why and it can help you locate and unlock the area.

Sometimes, the client (a beginning and not much advanced case) can come into session with an absolutely STUCK needle. Same drill. Educe, ask if there is anything he has attention on or is stuck with . . . . sometimes this situation needs the client to be switched to OBJECTIVES type processes such as SPIEPIR, or Environmental Harmony, or our Fact and Opinion process. These processes get the client out of his head and lift him out of what he is stuck in/with and compulsively stopping or being stopped by.

There are other rather nondescript needle actions that have been described over the years, don't put any more significance on them than the fact that they are mirroring the action or pattern of the underlying spiritual Life-Force affecting the needle . . . and just do the usual.

THE IMPORTANT THING
The important thing to know is that the technology relating to the use of the meter has been butchered over the years. And that butchering can only be the result of deliberate, evil intent.

You old-timers will be aware of the fact that ANY change of needle characteristic or pattern of movement was considered a valid "read" in the early days. And that is valid tech because, obviously, something is causing that change of needle/meter action! And to invalidate or negate that fact has produced the huge damage to peoples and the loss of support that that organization has suffered since such changes, along with other falsely promoted "improvements," were introduced. Valuable, valid technical truths have been knocked out and abandoned.

Many of you will know that in the late 1970's the erroneous technology was introduce into Scientology that stated the only valid "reads" are: SF's, F's, LF's and B/Ds.

That is, all of the earlier valid and provenly beneficial knowledge of meter action such as RR's, R/S's, Stops, Rises and such was scrapped . . . and that organization is wondering why it is despised.

The above gives you all you really need to know to understand what your meter is doing and why . . . and how to use it.

I wrote this up yesterday and this morning in the interim of me getting the video together for you all.

What you wrote might be because English is your second language, but here is my current answer....

What I am saying is that the needle reaction is instant upon contact with the charged item . . . I am not talking about "Instant Reads" as is normally meant to mean that read that occurs at the end of the question delivered by the processor (as against "latent" or "prior" reads).

ALL reads occur the instant an area or item of charge is contacted . . . do not conflate this with asking a question and seeing a read occur at the end of the voiced question. The meter reads WHENEVER charge is contacted. It does not take a question to make it read. With RR's you do feel them

and all you have to do is look at/to what it is that exploded.

There is a lot to digest in my piece above . . . and to be noted it explains and also debunks a lot or prior data or views on the subject.

Thus, my ditty might take some several re-reads to sought out the nuances. Many here are going to have to undo earlier bad data/information that has been foisted off on them

Folks here have come from a culture which screwed this tech up. Example: instead of clearly stating why and when a meter reads, the data and importance on that was buried under all the control mechanism altered importance of babbling on about "instant reads" are when the meter reacts at the end of the delivered question in session. . . . and you guys who've been through the Sec Checking horror parade of the cult know how the meter and its "reads" were used as a control mechanism, both is session and on org lines generally. The trap of the "other culture" is that they made the meter senior to the client.

Ever heard the refrain, "He's an auditor that can make the meter read!" As though that is some kind of compliment! You see, that is the kind of think that goes on in a cult that dominates and runs abusive control on the client.

One can actually, quite happily process most R/Ds without a meter . . . it's just a little slower and likely less accurate.

Brilliant and thank you. Confirmed tons of little "inklings" I'd been harboring without confirmation, brought new information to light, connected old information and sh** canned a few things too.

Nancy and I just finished going over it line-by-line with dictionaries and illustrations on paper. She feels this is the best understanding of the meter she has ever had.

One thing you had mentioned earlier about getting used to the meter was to just observe it. I was assigned to do 30 hours of processing a partner with the meter "on the side". I focused my attention entirely on the client and only noticed out of the corner of my eye what the meter did. I did not write it down, analyze it or base any of the session questions on the reads - just noticed. That is a VERY informative 30 hours.

If somebody did that, with your write-up here in hand, that would bust the understanding doors wide open.

Nancy just added "It (the write-up) sure would have made my first experience of using a meter a h*ll of a lot more friendly!" LAUGH

Thanks, Russell and Nancy . . . I just came in to check in on things before dinner . . . yous just made my wine taste a lot better.

Yes, I did write that recommendation of going into session and just only watch what the meter does without trying to "use" it at first . . . and that was for a girl setting out to process herself solo. As a learning technique, it really actually works best when done in a solo session . . . you FEEL what is what as well as see it!

Hence my Sweet Virginia learned to use the meter while at the same time learning to solo process!!!

Ummm, two birds killed with the same stone.

Here is a little note that will help some.

This morning I was processing a member of our forum on an earlier universe . . . this over Skype with him on the meter at his end and his computer screen showing the meter dial being shared with me. Hence I was watching his meter action in real time.

Came a point in the session, when handling a shock, he mentioned he suddenly was feeling hot and with a pressure on him (he actually looked a little red). The meter action/reaction at that moment and just prior was that of a slight tightening of the needle and a slight, slow, rise.

After the issue of the shock was handled, he mentioned to me as a curiosity, that the meter "did not read when he felt the heat and pressure."

And this is why I am writing this to you so as to clear up any misapprehension as to a) what is a read and b) what the meter reacts on . . .

Many folks are still hung up- on the Cof$ error that "reads" are only SF's, F's, LF's or B/Ds.

The fact is, any change of needle or meter action is a reaction caused by what is going on in/with the client's case! Though it is also true that a client's live thoughts or action will produce needle/meter action/reaction.

In actuality, there was a "meter read" on the moving in of the "force" (a pressure indicates a force as it is a directional vector of Life-Force) and the heat turning on . . . the needle tightened and resistance value (TA) rose slightly.

But, the job of a processor is not to react to the meter action when the client is handling something and telling you all about it . . . the session was running very smoothly. This client is a gem of a client who just simply spots things and moves sweetly through it all like a hot knife through butter.

I simply mentally noted the meter action in case I might later have to come back and handle it . . . which, had that been required, if the client hung up, would have been for me to check for: "Has/had a mass or force turned on?" . . . and to handle that unhandled item. Note that the rise in resistance value shows mass building up, which in this case eventually got discharged as the client sorted out the subject area of case.

As it happened, the client sailed on with handling the question of the shock handling we were on, and as the charge on that question in the handling was resolved the charge locked up in the "pressure" that had produced the "heat" discharged, it then read with the expected B/Ds . . .

Remember: reductions or releases of charge, force and mass causes the needle and Resistance Value (TA) to drop with Falls and/or B/D's. BUT, any change or reaction in meter behavior is a read on what is happening with the client in the session.

It is just that, as I have written above, different things on the client's case does cause different types of reactions or patterns of meter response.

Please don't get hung up on Hubbard's (if it was him that changed the earlier Scn tech) notion that the ONLY valid "reads" are SF's, F's, LF's or B/Ds . . . that is false bullshit which will mislead you!

Yes . . . and one should differentiate the two different uses of the meter.

If one is doing an assessment (say, of a prepared list) or looking for an item item such as listing for an identity, then the processor often (depends on the situation you are dealing with) responds appropriately when they see the meter read . . . This is the situation when you are looking for a something that may well be just beyond the clients perception and you are using the meter to find what is charged in the area or on the question.

BUT, in general use in a sweetly running session, the meter may not even be needed. Lots of processing can be done without the meter. But it is wisest and best to use one as it can reveal things you can benefit from knowing as you progress . . . masters at the game can see how the session is going, anything moved in? anything being missed? what exactly is the client wrestling with; conflicted intentions (R/S) an own major intention/postulate? (RR) an own or spiritual Teammate self-sabotaging negation of self? (Reverse RR) . . . a mass moving in that the client has not articulated? (needle/TA rising slowly) . . .

Knowing these things can help you GET ALL and come to full understanding such that the case issue is completely resolved during the session.

With clients, I use a lot of the tricks/skills I have learned from solo processing . . . you should too

Remember the example I gave on another post wherein the client had been having trouble "getting going and attaining successful production" . . . . in the session I took him back to a time when he was attaining his wants and winning and sought to discover with him what had gone out.

Remember me writing that he had had a monster ascension to the extent of thinking/believing something in the vein that "this is too weird to be real!" . . . whereupon I saw an instant Reverse RR on the meter. But still I shut up till, after he rumbled about looking for answers and failing to resolve the situation, I gently referred him back to his "thought," reminded him of the power of the "thoughts are things" tech, and gently pointed out that: "This thought you voiced, 'this is too weird to be real!' . . . this actually Reverse RR'd when you voiced it, and you know what that means . . ." (He is trained by me and aware of the tech point).

What we'd picked up in session by recognition of the meter reaction for what it was, was the point in the incident where he unwittingly self sabotaged his own power by concluding "it was too weird to be real!"

Just think, we are the only people to have this piece of tech. It does not exist anywhere else that has followed on from the LRH paradigm. We are lucky people.

Alan deals with types of meter reads, and what to pick and what not to pick up.

He mentions a needle/meter action I did not . . . it's called a "Stage Four" . . . it's a rather mechanical pattern which according to Hubbard turns on when the client is being "robotic" . . . that is, no client there but all machine or circuits.. Heh, I've never seen one in sessions but had to demo it doing meter drills.

You'll note he speaks of the "R/S" as a "Lightening Read" . . . but tells you that it is based on the conflict of that the Being is "reaching towards something but having to instantly and reactively withdraw from it." That data was based on Hubbard's old data about "The Rock" . . . . which was said to be said to be something (an object) the client "had to have/reach for but could not and had to reactively withdraw from"

It is a very early tape . . . 1988 . . . We've learned a lot since then

Hi Roger, how are you?

I've been doing what you told me, reading and doing processes by myself to catch up with all the information on the forum. The other day the "reading and using the meter" post on the forum caught my attention. I took the opportunity to use the meter while reading at the same time and observing his behavior; it turned out to be like some kind of process where I was able to release a lot of charge.

It was very interesting to see this in another way, from a "friendly perspective" that makes you feel relieved at something that, long time ago, seemed to be like some kind of complex dogma or an infinitely difficult subject to understand. I say this because initially I didn't studied any of the meter courses; I dedicated myself to observe its functioning, to use it, to receive processing and to listen to what other people had to say about it.

This generated some conflicting ideas to me, since one of the phrases that was more emphasized over me was that: "The meter is never wrong". In my case, this meant that what I was saying was a lie, since it didn't showed a reaction or a "read" on the meter.

For a very long time, I thought that I was wrong, that what I was saying wasn't the "correct item", but now I see it was all a misinterpretation for giving too much relevance to the reads of SF, F, LF and BD. A "Rising needle" is also a read! Because it's telling you that something is going on there, and you have to do something about it.

In any case, because of giving too much preponderance to the reads, and not to what I said, to my thoughts or my ideas, I ended up repudiating the auditing. But one day I decided to retake it, in my own way, giving priority to my thoughts and not to the movements of the meter (because the meter had become more important than me), and little by little I began to recover the ability and the confidence to be able to process by myself.

This text reiterates my process and my certainties: that what I think is the "correct item" - the meter is a tool that helps me reaffirm that, but it is I who must have the certainty. "The meter is never wrong", that's true, but people who use it can be wrong, hence the importance of using the meter as a tool to seek the truth, not to impose it on others, because what we are doing is not imposing our truth on the other, but helping him to find his own truth.

And that's the story I wanted to share.

Well, back to my readings.

These are wonderful realizations.

You are correct - it is only a tool. You are sovereign to the meter.

After the first five years of processing, I found that I no longer needed the meter to process, I could feel and know when I had the correct answer.

Now I only use the meter when I'm so deep in crap that I cannot know what is the truth and correct. At those times, I need the meter to help me sort out the truth from the untruth.

I like being able to process without the meter because that means I can process anywhere, at any time. Sometimes I've even processed myself while sitting on the subway going to work.

Yes, getting the correct basics in and known regarding the meter; why it "reads" and what on, is an important piece of knowledge. Indeed I had an email last week from an individual who wanted my write-up sent to him so he could debug all the false data he's inherited "elsewhere."

The other thing to know is that one can observe the meter react to something that is a little too deep to dig up . . . still, not to worry; what you do there is take a break, even for a day or two, and allow the buried item to "open up" . . . . the thing not to do, is to worry about any of this. The fact is that, now you are each on the right path with the correct underlying tech, you can't but help to make it out so long as you continue to study, upgrade your knowledge and address your states of existence with a positive application of what you know.

And, as Virginia says, most of what you'll be handling can be done in due course without the use of a meter.

It is true what you say; I had to do process yesterday to a friend and I didn't had the meter with me, so I had to rely on "indicators and perception" to do the whole process, and it was very interesting to "feel" when you were entering a "charged area" or when the CI's took place because you can feel a release, or more like a relieve.

I didn't knew one could do that without the meter, it's a great piece of advice that I want to put in practice and master.
